iker, for a wild plant walk along the beautiful Keuka Outlet Trail.  Become better acquainted with the wild edible and medicinal plants that call this trail home, discovering their unique traits, uses and lore, while creating an even greater connection to this special path. Take home with you the knowledge of how to identify, harvest and prepare these plants that likely live in your own backyard into delicious meals and helpful medicines. This 1-2 mile walk will be easy to moderate in nature and appropriate for all ages 

Heather's Bio:

Heather is a Certified Herbalist, Long Distance Hiker, and author. She has thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail, North Carolina's 1,200 mile Mountains to Sea Trail twice, set the record as the first person to thru-hike the 1,000 mile Finger Lakes Trail System, and most recently completed a thru-hike on New York's state's 350 mile Long Path. Along these treks she researches the edible and medicinal plants she encounters and when possible, forages, incorporating the wild plants into her backcountry meals and medicines. She is the author of the Botanical Hiker Series: practical guidebooks to regional edible and medicinal plants crafted for the hiker. As co-owner of Hike Local, she guides others into the natural world through guided hikes, plant walks, workshops and presentations.
