Scandinavian Chip Carving for Beginners
Instructor: Craig Sandberg
Chip carving is one of the simplest and oldest forms of decorative carving. Examples have been found around the world as ancient people used chip carving to decorate their tools and express their artistic skills. During the Gothic period, later woodcarvers began using wood to decorate large cathedrals like the stone masons used stone. Basic chip carving requires only one specific knife and a way to lay out a design. Other tools might be used but aren't necessary for simple projects. Pretty much anything made of wood can be decorated with chip and carved designs.
