“Ballots and Bloomers”

L. Caroline Underwood Museum at 107 Chapel Street in Penn Yan.

Join the Yates County History Center for a lecture by
author Dr. Norman Dann on Saturday, April 22 at 1 p.m. entitled “Ballots and
Bloomers”.

The presentation is based on Dann’s research
for the books, “Cousins of Reform: Gerrit Smith and Elizabeth Cady Stanton
“plus “Ballots, Bloomers and Marmalade: The Life of Elizabeth Smith
Miller”.  Stanton and Miller were
cousins, friends and allies in suffrage activities.  Miller was a resident of nearby Geneva.

Dr. Dann is professor emeritus at SUNY
Morrisville and is an active volunteer at the Gerrit Smith farm in Petersboro,
NY.

This
event is a part of the History Center’s year-long centennial celebration of NYS
women’s right to vote. The lecture will take place at the L. Caroline Underwood
Museum at 107 Chapel Street in Penn Yan.  The suffrage exhibit, Hear Our One Voice, will be open.

Admission
is $5 for YCHC members and $10 for non-members.
