 Wednesday the 1st Monday, Oct 2009 the 12th East Hill Gallery Opens for the Season East Hill Gallery, The Rochester Folk Art Guild’s exhibition space and store, located in Middlesex, NY, welcomes visitors Memorial Day Weekend through Columbus Day weekend. The Guild’s accomplished artists will offer recent creations, including porcelain and stoneware pottery, wood furniture and turnings, natural fiber clothing, cards and hand-built boats. Visiting local artists will exhibit jewelry and imported fabrics. New and classic best sellers in fiction, non-fiction and children’s books are featured in the Guild’s “Book Room”, a quiet place to browse for good summer reads.  Wednesday the 1st Sunday, Sep 2009 the 6th From Bloomers to Bikinis a vintage bathing suit exhibit covering fun in the sun from 1900 through the 1970s may be viewed until September 6 at the Glenn H. Curtiss Museum of early aviation and local history.
Featured are men’s and women’s bathing suits spanning the Victorian and Edwardian Era to the mod swinging Seventies. The exhibit features over 30 suits and a wide variety of accessories in styles representing the first eighty years of the 20th century.
Highlights include a few suits made popular by celebrities such as silent film starlet Annette Kellerman, who was known as the “Million Dollar Mermaid,” Dorothy Lamour, who was seen in many Bob Hope and Bing Crosby movies, and the legendary Marilyn Monroe.
Of local interest is a display on The Elms Camp for Girls that was on the east side of Keuka Lake from 1961 to 1971.
Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $7.50 for Adults, $6.00 for Seniors, and $4.50 for ages 7-18. Children 6 and under are free. Family rate (2 adults plus 2 or more children ages 7-18) is $20.00. Group rates for 10 or more are available.

 Sunday the 26th Steamboat Era Cruise on Keuka Lake The Yates County Genealogical and Historical Society will hold its annual Steamboat Era Cruise on Sunday afternoon, July 26th. Our cruise will be aboard the Viking Spirit which docks at the Viking Motel at 680 East Lake Road in Penn Yan. Boarding time is 1:00 p.m. with sailing promptly at 1:30 p.m. This year’s two and a half hour cruise will traverse the east branch of Keuka Lake down to the end of Bluff Point. There will be lively historic narrative by our steamboat ‘experts’, light refreshments and a few surprises. The first ever Krossin' Keuka '09 will be held bright and early Saturday, August 15, 2009, at Keuka College located on beautiful Keuka Lake. The event will consist of 150 swimmers, of all ages and abilities, who will swim the .67 mile width of Keuka Lake.
The swim is NON-COMPETITIVE and open to anyone who is of high school age and older. Each swimmer and paddler will be asked for an entry fee of $25 and to raise a minimum of $100.00 in pledges in order to participate in this event. A free continental breakfast will be served for participants and available to spectators for purchase. All participants will receive a First Edition Krossin' Keuka tee shirt and wonderful prizes will be awarded to the participant who raises the most money and to the participant who has the most number of pledges.

Come enjoy free wine tasting and tours, cooking demonstrations, release of great new wines, horse-drawn wagon rides through the vineyards, artists exhibiting their works and demonstrating their talents, grape stomping and more! Chef Mike Ditchfield and his catering students from Penn College's School of Hospitality will prepare a selection of gourmet foods paired with Hunt Country wines. Chef Paul Mach, co-host of PBS "You're the Chef", will conduct cooking demonstrations. Enjoy a wine-tasting workshop, complete with barrel samples, with Winemaker Christopher Wirth. Relax at a table under the "big tent" and enjoy a glass of award-winning wine, delectable food and live music.
